Camera, Mouse Bungee, future bloggings, culture night.

Duuudes it´s my birthdayyy1!! And I, recieved a brand spanking new Casio camera. 14.1 megapixorrz and shift stabilization (whatever that is). I have never owned a digital camera so this experience is really new to me. I have no sense of how to take good photos so it should be interesing.

Anyways whats new I dont know. Tonight is Stockholm Culture Night (Kulturnatten) and for you nerds out there it might be nice to know that you can get yourself a free trial game of Magic the Gathering at Dragons Lair before 20.00 tonight. After that it´s free board game gaming all night, and also WoW and Left 4 Dead. I am going to go there if I still feel like it at 22.00 when my buddy Tiger gets out of band practice. If you go there, don´t forget to register for free membership at their homepage first.

Also tomorrow I intend to upload my first geeky outfit of the day. Why you ask? Because I am just going to start uploading whatever I feel like to this blog. Expect outfits, reviews, musical performances, and tips on what to do in Stockholm aaaalll mixed up baby.

Staying on the geek theme I present to you, the other present I recieved today!

Yes it is a "Mouse Bungee".

I am just going to go ahead and label this as completely unnecessary. What is worse is that I have matched my gaming setup by buying all black pieces and this grey monstrosity kills the theme! However I AM going to use it because I love my little brother who provided this piece of computer equipment. And also because it actually is a little bit useful. It lifts the cord to the mouse up to allow for free movement of the mouse. The cord moves very easily through the device so it does not in any way hinder movement. Get it if you want to go ultra pro or if you don´t know what to get your gamer friend for her/his birthday.

Finally, I leave you with this picture I took on a walk to nearby Ulriksdals castle (Ulriksdals slott).

Beware of the giant frogs people!

Following it up

I just lost two 2v2s playing random and I am in a shittey mood. I like to play random in 2v2 as practice so that one day, I can play random on 1v1 ladder without plummeting in rank. But today I was the SHITTIEST zerg ever and I want to QQ all the way to the bank.

Since last time. I have been DJ-ing some, I have been playing Arkham Asylum, and of course some Starcraft 2. I feel like I want to play a lot of ladder but there is often something that stops me. I was able to tell myself that playing ladder games is not a big deal, and thus I was able to promise myself to play five ladder games on my Friday off. Unfortunately that did not happen. I played three games, and realized (or fooled myself into thinking) that I was now playing gold players I was then once again stricken with a fear of playing ladder when conditions are not optimal.

Conditions are optimal when I feel relatively well rested, I have a lot of time freed up so I will not have to interrupt the game for anything, my girlfriend is feeling happy and will not think I am blowing her off by playing video games, and maybe most importantly, I need to not have adrenalin from a previous game in my system.

The smell of the gold league is what now ressurects this fear of (losing) league games. It is very sad since I am really finding much joy in the 1v1 league. The high silver/low gold league has just the right mix of cheese and regular games. Unfortunately my latest games are´nt really that interesting. This game was pretty exciting though. Silver level excitement! Enjoy.

Introduction and some SC2 replay

So like yeah. I am a geek. And I live in Stockholm. Even though I am not really from Stockholm. Lately I´ve been playing a lot more computer games than I´ve generally done in the past 3 years. When I was a teenager I played soooo much. Man, I hardly ever went outside if I was not on my way to a late night session of Perfect Dark, or perhaps a day of table top RPG playing.

Anyway in recent years I´ve been losing a lot of my nerd friends. I started DJ-ing and made more of like, hipster friends. Also I played in bands, I started Kendo, I went to law school. But after going to a local Gaming Café and trying out Starcraft 2 I was hooked. I bought myself a gaming laptop on an old credit card that I got after buying a sweet Gibson Les Paul. And suddenly I find myself with an urge to talk about Starcraft 2, but noone to talk to! My girlfriend thinks the whole thing is stupid, and compains that I spend too much time gaming. But whatever.
The forums have too many trolls, and so mych of the discussion just ends up stupid because of n00bs like me. So I thought to myself, a blog is the answer. And maybe it is the first step to getting more involved in the gaming world.

For this first blog I present to you a replay! It´s not super interesting but since my aim is to upload all my replays, here it is. I am a silver league Terran player that likes to play random in team games. I feel like my mid to late game macro is stronger than most of the players I face in Silver League, but I often have trouble with early pushes like the baneling bust.
What might be interesting about this replay is seeing an example of getting supply blocked at the WORST possible time and for a long time, during my opponents first push. I do get supply blocked a lot. I know the good tips from day9, check supply, money, minimap, and spam production building hotkeys. I have praticed it but it is not second nature to me yet.

Another thing that I find interesting about this replay is the not so effective use of Dark Templar by my opponent. I think many silver level players play like this. Overestimating some technique. Mass voidray in the back of opponents base, DT amongst the workers, proxy reaper rush, and so forth. Since this usually wins them the game these players just don´t practice the basics of the game. But I must admit, they probably have more fun than me while they play :) .

I have lots more to talk about, like life in Stockholm, maybe a little talk about music, and of course other games, but this post is becoming a long one. So I will just sign off.

Signing off.
